2026 Women’s Open Singles Tournament Results

Peel Pool Association Women’s Open Singles Tournament was held at Dudley Park Bowling & Recreation Club (Inc) on Tuesday 1 September 2026, and what a great turn-out with 13 out of 15 (or 87% of our female players) registering to play in the Singles.

The format was a split round robin with everyone setting off at a cracking pace.  We saw some great sportsmanship and camaraderie topped off with great pool and the ladies visibly enjoying a night without the blokes!

Group one saw Suzie Gibbs come out on top with 5 from 6 games; Claire Marsh and Renae Duncombe both on 4 from 6 games (Claire qualifying 2nd on count back and Renae in 3rd); with Erica Keighley making the final four to qualify from group one.

Group two saw a log jam at the top with count back required to separate three players with 4 from 5 games with Ros Johnson, Bridget Annels and Nadine White finishing in that order.  The fourth position had to be determined by a play-off between Adele Luke and Tash Hazell, with Adele getting through in the end.

Quarters – Best of 3

Suzie 2 defeated vs Erica 0; Claire 2 defeated vs Nadine 0,

Renae 2 defeated Bridget 0; Ros 2 defeated Adele 0.

Semis: – Best of 3

Claire 2 defeated Ros 0; Renae 2 defeated Suzie 1.

Final: Best of 5

Claire vs Renae was an intense final with Renae jumped out of the blocks early with a handy lead 2 – 0 lead; the fightback was then on with Claire showing her usual grit to take the next two frames making it 2 all with a deciding frame to go.  With the standard of play very high the decider could have gone either way, but Clair took the honours in a memorable final winning 3 frames to 2.  Commiserations to Renae and well done on your first foray in a PPA individual event, we predict we will see a lot more of Renae in future events.

Congratulations go to Claire Marsh the 2026 Women’s Open Singles champion.

Thank you to all competitors, supporters, our host venue Dudley Park Bowling & Recreation Club (Inc) and to their great staff and service behind the bar.
