Welcome

Welcome to the Peel Pool website. The Peel Pool Association is a non profit organisation that has been running now for over 35 years. Its main aim is to promote the game of pool and its associated cue sports in the Peel region of Western Australia. We run team competitions throughout most of the year with the main season running throughout the winter months. We also have many other events throughout the year including sending teams upto Perth each year for both the Open Country Week and Womens Country Week events. If you live in the Peel area or surrounding districts and would like to play competitive pool then please get in touch with one of our Committee Members and they will point you in the right direction.

Also there is a Summer Competition being run at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. At the moment there are 5 teams playing on the Tuesday night. We also had our Windup last Saturday. Although numbers were down on previous years it was still a really good night. There were pictures taken on the night and eventually I will get to go through them and put them up for you all to see. ;-)

Good luck to all those players who are in the Top 16 Tournaments. :-)

11th September 2011 -- Updated again. Congratulations to Luke Anglesey for making the State Open team for this year. This now makes 3 players from the Peel Pool Association who have made it into the State squad. Awesome effort. :-)

3rd September 2011 -- All updated again. As Second Division's season has effectively finished until the finals series starts there is no need for those teams to put their score sheets in. However if you do I will put the results and best players up for you. If there are any Second Division teams which are not going to show up for the matches listed in the fixtures could they please get in touch with someone so that the opposing team can be contacted in advance.

On Wednesday night we had the Mixed Doubles at the Indoor Sportz Centre. Thanks to Donna Haben for running this for us. They played a round robin and in the end both Keith Carter - Janet Bartlett and Colin Stables - Donna Haben were equal on frames won. In the play off to decide the winner Keith Carter and Janet Bartlett proved too strong winning by 2 frames to 1. Well done guys/gals. :-)

27th August 2011 -- Sorry for updating so late again. One was doing night shifts. It was disappointing that this week we had 3 forfeits on the Tuesday night. Please remember that you can still play on the night if you only have four there.

Last weekend two of our Association players managed to get themselves into the Western Australian Masters team which will be travelling to New South Wales this coming October to compete in the Nationals. Congratulations to Sam Hart and Keith Carter. Well done guys. :-) For information on other upcoming events on the State calendar please visit the forum. These include the Country State Selection Playoffs and the State Open and Womens Singles events.

This coming weekend will see our ladies travel upto Perth to play in the Womens Country Week Championships. Hopefully the girls can have a great weekend and return with the trophy for the best team.

Also last weekend the Association had a match against the Western Australian Eightball League at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. Both Associations fielded four teams with Peel proving too strong across all divisions. You can find the results for this here. Also on the Sunday there were two knockouts played with players from both Associations being represented. In the first division knockout final Tommy Smith (Western Australian Eightball League) proved too strong for our Ben Dougherty by winning 4 frames to 2. In the second division knockout final both players were from Peel. Andrew Perkins (4) defeated Lisa Perkins (2). From what I have heard a good time was had by all over the weekend. A big thankyou should go out to Greg Barnard, Erica Keighley, Gary Kalbus, Donna Williams and Lisa Perkins for their efforts in making the weekend special.

27th July 2011 -- Shock, horror, everything is updated already for this week. ;-)

26th July 2011 -- A big sorry to all the lady members for not putting the results of the Womens Singles up. Due to low numbers the girls played a round robin and in the end Lois Whitmore proved too strong. Runner up was Donna Haben. Well done girls. :-)

25th July 2011 -- First of all, my apologies for just updating last weeks results now. Again I have been on night shifts and we also had a bit of a dispute in a match. Could all members who are adjudicating a game please concentrate on what they are doing. We have had a few disputes this year and all have come down to adjudicators not doing their job properly.

Also I have now updated the Fixtures page to show changes for the rest of the season. It mainly invovles the venues to be used for the Open Singles, the Top 16 playoffs and the Grand Final day. Also all remaining Nomination nights and Delegate meeting nights have been shifted to the Lucky Break Pool Hall. Please just refer to the Fixtures page and you will see the updates. Thanks. :-)

If you are interested in entering the State Masters or State Mixed Doubles this year then you can find all the relevant information at this link at the forum.

17th July 2011 -- On Saturday the 6th of August the Peel Pool Association will be hosting a few teams from the WA Eightball League at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. At this stage there will be three teams coming from the WA Eightball League consisting of first, second and third division teams. The matches will start at 2.00 pm and run through to later in the night. A barbeque supper will be provided. If you are available to play on that day and would like to play then please get in touch with Greg Barnard. You can find Greg's contact details on the forum here.

Also there will be a knockout held on the Sunday the 7th of August which will be open to any player that is interested. There will be a $20 entry fee and prizes will be paid down till the last eight. Again if you are interested in playing contact Greg or be at the Lucky Break Pool Hall before midday.

9th July 2011 -- Finally all updated again, thanks for your patience. ;-)

7th July 2011 -- Thankyou all for your responses regarding the Home of Pool. There were no objections to the move received at all. Therefore this coming Monday, nominations for the Open Doubles and Womens Singles will be shifted to the Lucky Break Pool Hall. The Open Doubles will also be played there this coming Tuesday night. With regards to the rest of the fixture championships I will put up any changes over the next few days when it has been all worked out. Also updates will be a bit later this week as I am currently in the middle of a run of night shifts. Saturday is looking good. :-)

12th June 2011 -- This coming Friday the 17th of June, Sonny Lister will be doing a pool exhibition down at the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre. All money raised from the event is going towards helping Ron Kelly (current Australian Vice Captain) so that he can again play for Australia in the World Eightball Championships to be held in Blackpool, England later on this month. Ron will be there on the night for some games too so it promises to be a really good night. The show starts at 6.30 pm, see you there. :-)

8th June 2011 -- Well another Country Week has been and gone and as usual it was a great weekend. Thanks heaps to Adrian Lancaster and the rest of the people involved in making it so good. This year we were not as successful in the top divisions but a good across the board performance from all teams saw us win the Best Performing Town award. Our Seventh and Tenth division teams won their respective divisions as well as our Division Five team was runner up in their division. We had many individual performances which were outstanding on the weekend with Luke Carter topping the list by winning the Country Singles Championship. There were also quite a few individual winners who took out the best singles averages across their divisions. In Division 2 there was Tom Martion, Division 3 - Colin Stables, Division 4 - Tim Elwin, Division 7 - Adrian Morton and in Division Ten both Kylie Grenfell and Rod Gillies topped the list. Well done everyone. :-)

I have updated the Country Week page to reflect this years results. At this stage I am still waiting on pictures from the weekend so don't bother clicking on the link there as it will take you nowhere. ;-)

Also last night we had the Nineball Tournament. Congratulations to Neil Barton (5) who defeated Colin Stables (3) in the final.

27th May 2011 -- Everything should be updated again. It would be good to see everyone who is going to Country Week this year down at the Lucky Break Pool Hall this coming Tuesday. ;-)

22nd May 2011 -- First of all my apologies for not updating everything earlier on. I have just finished a run of night shifts and I am too tired to get my mind around it when I finish work. Anyway everything is upto date now. Please remember if you think I have made an error with anything then let me know and I will double check things. This is why I put up the previous weeks so you can go back and check things if you wish to.

There has also been a change of venues for home games for two teams in the Second/Third Division competition. From now on the Mud Dogs will be playing their home games from the Lucky Break Pool Hall and the Redbacks will now play theirs out of the Halls Head Tavern. I will update the fixtures online to reflect those changes however you will have to make a note of it in your fixture books. Another thing to note is that the Wind Up for this year will be held on the 15th October at the RSL Hall.

The Association would also like to welcome Mandurah Web onboard as a major sponsor for this years Country Week event. Please remember to try and support our sponsors when you need anything done around your house or for your business. :-)

12th May 2011 -- Results from Tuesday nights Grade Singles. In First Division, Ben Dougherty (3) defeated Sam Hart (2) and in Third Division, Jason West (3) defeated Roy Wootton (0). Unfortunately the Second Division ran out of time to finish theirs so it will have to be played at a later date. In that final it will be Shannon Ellis versus Ryan Smith.

6th May 2011 -- All upto date again. Please remember there is a Nomination night for the Grade Singles at the Silver Sands Tavern this coming Monday night. If you have players in your team who wish to play then please come down at 7.00 pm. Also remember we run Australian Poker League nights at the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre on Friday nights. The pool tables down there are free to members to play on so if you are doing nothing then please wander down. I have a night off and wouldn't mind a bit of practise so I hope to see a few members down there tonight. :-)

22nd April 2011 -- Updated again. As there is a bye next Tuesday for the Easter/Anzac long weekend there may be a few of you who are lost or would like a game next Tuesday night. If you are then wander down to the Lucky Break around the 7.00 oclock mark and if there is enough numbers we will look at some sort of knockout or something similar. If not then enjoy your break over Easter and stay safe. :-)

14th April 2011 -- Everything is updated again. As we have now hit 5 rounds quite a few members are due to pay their membership fees. Please pay before next weeks games as I don't want to have to penalise teams due to their members not being financial. If you are experiencing financial difficulties and need time to pay then please get in touch with me. If I hear nothing and you have played five games then your team will be penalised.

6th April 2011 -- Results from last nights Grade Doubles. At the Lucky Break in First Division, Neil Barton and Ryan Farr (3) defeated Russell Hine and Kevin Sexton (1) and in Third Division, Jason West and Steve Green proved too strong for Julie Hutton and Denise Overell. The Second Division Grade Doubles at the Silver Sands unfortunately ran out of time so the final will have to be played at a later date. Adrian Morton and Bruce Neve will play Shannon Ellis and Troy Ellis in that game.

First Division Grade Double Finalists: (from left to right) Neil Barton, Ryan Farr, Russell Hine and Kevin Sexton.

Second Division Grade Double Finalists: (from left to right) Adrian Morton, Bruce Neve, Shannon Ellis and Troy Ellis.

2nd April 2011 -- Updated again. ;)

29th March 2011 -- Good luck to everyone playing tonight. Just a friendly reminder to all teams that members fees are due after 5 playing nights. Certain members will start approaching that mark over the next few weeks. Also if a member wishes to nominate for any events they must be financial. There is a nominations night at the Silver Sands Tavern on Monday the 4th of April and I will be there with a receipt book in hand. ;-)

23rd March 2011 -- Everything is updated already. Had a day off and could get all the sheets today, amazing hey, lol. I have had to chase around for a few player registration forms though and that is a pita. Please remember if you play a new player on the night that they must fill out a form and that form is to accompany your teams score sheet. Thankyou. :-)

Also the Mandurah Bowling Club is moving to its new premises over the next week so at this stage next weeks game between the Redbacks and the Lucky Ducks is to be played at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. I will keep you all updated on when the move to the new premises is completed.

19th March 2011 -- Updated again. Sorry for the delay, been on night shifts. Please remember to support young Luke Anglesey by buying some chalk and a raffle ticket or two from the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre. Friday night is a good night if you are stuck for something to do. We have the Australian Poker League down there on those nights and the pool tables are free for use by members.

10th March 2011 -- Hi all. Fixtures have been altered again to reflect Drakesbrook withdrawing from the competition. I have also been going through to update everything after Tuesdays first round of fixtures. You will find everything by clicking on the relevant links on the left. Please don't forget there is a delegates meeting this coming Monday the 14th of March at 7.00 pm at the Silver Sands Tavern.

Also one of our members Luke Anglesey has again qualified to play in the World Junior Championships in England which will be held in a few months time. Luke is currently trying to raise funds so that he can attend the championships. Below you can see two ways that you can help Luke out. Both the chalk and raffle tickets are available for purchase down at the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre. Please support one of our up and coming stars. ;-)

I have spent most of the day redoing fixtures, as soon as Mick has approved my attempt at doing them for website, we will have them up...if this appears on website, good chance fixtures will be up super soon. ;-) See you all soon ... Prez

28th February 2011 -- Hi. Due to extra teams coming in for this winter season there will be changes to the fixtures that were put on the website. At this stage we are hoping the start date for the season will remain the same.

Also if you are looking for a bit of practice then wander on down to the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre on a Friday night. The tables are free to members and you will mormally find a few others down there practising as well. It is also the night the Association hosts the Australian Poker League so there is a bit of an atmosphere. Cya down there sometime soon. :-)

17th February 2011 -- Gday. I have just uploaded this seasons winter fixtures. Second and Third Division teams will be playing in the same set of fixtures due to the lack of teams in Third Division. You can read more about this on the forum. Explanation of fixtures.

24th January 2011 -- Hi all. I hope everyone had a good xmas and new years. Sorry there has been nothing up here but we have basically been having a break.
